Weston, CT · Wooded lots, wells and septic

Landscaping and Masonry in Weston, CT

Weston is woods, rock and two-acre lots, with nearly every house on its own well and septic system. We build walls, steps, drainage and plantings that work with all of that, from our yard.

Weston is the most rural of the towns we work in. There’s no town sewer system, so nearly every home runs on its own septic system, and most on private wells, and most lots are two acres or more of woods, rock and slope. It’s a beautiful place to build, but it asks for more planning than a flat suburban yard.

What building in Weston involves

Wells and septic on every property

Because Weston homes rely on their own septic systems, and most on private wells, drainage and grading have to be planned around them. Before we dig, we locate the well, the tank and the leach field. Drains and dry wells go where they won’t flood the leach field, and machines stay off it. Getting this wrong can mean a septic repair, so we treat it as step one.

Woods, rock and slope

Most Weston properties are wooded, with glacial rock and ledge close to the surface and houses set on a slope. That usually means retaining walls to make level space, stone steps and landings from the driveway to the door, and walks that stay safe in winter.

Reservoir, wetlands and streams

Weston is laced with streams and wetlands and includes part of the Saugatuck Reservoir watershed, along with big preserves like Devil’s Den. Work near wetlands or watercourses often needs the town’s inland wetlands approval before it starts. We flag that on the site walk so the schedule allows for it.

Deer, shade and leaves

Big trees mean deep shade, a lot of leaves every fall and plenty of deer. We plant for that with deer-resistant, shade-tolerant choices, and fall cleanups on a Weston property are a serious job we’re set up for.

What Weston homeowners usually call us for

How we work in Weston

Every job starts with a free site walk. A foreman measures, checks grades, looks for ledge and maps the well and septic. You get one fixed written proposal, usually within 3 business days. The same crew builds the job from start to finish, cleans up every night and walks the finished work with you. Hardscape and masonry carry a 2-year workmanship warranty.

Questions we hear

Weston questions

More answers

Do you work in Weston, CT?

Yes. Weston is within the area we cover from our yard, reached through Westport or Wilton, and we take on walls, steps, drainage, planting and seasonal work there. Site walks and estimates are free.

How do you handle drainage on a property with a well and septic?

Carefully. We find the well, septic tank and leach field before any digging, keep drainage, dry wells and heavy machines clear of them, and send water where it won’t saturate the leach field. If the work is close to a wetland or stream, it may need the town’s approval first.

Can you plow a long, steep driveway?

Yes. Snow and ice management is one of our services, with seasonal contracts that include plowing, shoveling walks and pre-treatment before storms. We’ll look at the driveway’s length and grade when we price it.
